I hope you are continuing to keep well and staying positive at this difficult time.
I thought I would share some items of news from RDC with you.
In response to many requests from residents to elected councillors, the HWRCs (Household Waste Recycling Centres) will open again on a date yet to be confirmed.. I am sure this will be a welcome development for many of you.
The Teams at RDC are working hard to keep services as ‘normal’ as possible.
I am pleased to say that RDC remains the highest performing Council within N. Yorkshire on distributing COVID-19 related business grants to eligible organisations who have provided their details. ( 83% of our 2.5m. allocation ). NYs average was 77% and nationally the figure was 64%. This shows the commitment of the workforce to ensuring we do all we can to protect livelihoods on the patch. Follow up letters have been sent to businesses that are eligible and have not yet claimed.
Our Communities and Regulatory Service teams have also been very busy as a result of COVID-19. This includes pro actively calling vulnerable people to identify and put in place any support requirements, taking action to monitor and manage local issues and other enforcement regulations, and public compliance with expectations around not fly tipping and burning rubbish. You will be pleased to know that where we have intervened, we have successfully addressed the issues that have been raised.
We are also contacting businesses across Ryedale to understand what support they need to operate after lockdown in the short, medium and long term. This work remains essential.
If there is anything you feel I might be able to help you with, don’t hesitate to get in touch with me.
Take care and stay safe.
With very best wishes.
Cllr Susan Graham
Ryedale District Council
